Protect your wishes:

Legal document verification

Your will is a chance to protect your wishes and have a say in what happens when you’re gone. It’s legally binding when it’s witnessed and signed correctly.
If it isn’t signed correctly, it can be the same as having no will at all.
Once your will is signed, you’ll return it to us so that we can:
• Review your will to make sure it has been signed correctly
• Let you know if there are any issues, if there are, we’ll resend you your will and a guide on how to sign it correctly
• Provide you and your executors with a storage certificate
• Send you a printed copy of your will for reference

Secure storage for your documents

Your will is a chance to lay out your wishes for the things that matter most. Keeping it safe and secure is incredibly important. Copies of your will are not automatically legally valid and if your original will can’t be found, or is damaged for any reason, it can increase costs, cause delays and can even be used to contest your will and wishes.

As a member of our Packages, you can store your will and any other estate planning documents in our accredited will storage facilities.

They are:
• Fireproof
• Waterproof
• Secured with monitored intruder alarms, CCTV and access control measures

Unlimited access to our storage, adding or retrieving documents

You will always be able to access your documents for free, including submitting new
documents to our physical and digital document storage services.

Free estate plan reviews

Rest easy knowing that your documents will always be up to date. Our expert team will review your estate planning documents with you in a free estate planning consultation.

We’ll check that your documents are still up to date and let you know whether any changes need to be made. If you’re on the Classic Package our experts will review your documents every three years. If you’re on the Premier Package, experts will review them every year.

Unlimited will amends

Both packages include unlimited amends to your existing will, such as removing or adding to your beneficiaries or updating your details.

The government recommends you update your will every 5 years, or any time you experience any of the following life changes, to make sure it still reflects your wishes:

• Getting married
• Getting divorced
• Having children or grandchildren
• Buying or selling a home
• If an Executor or Guardian is no longer able to act
• If your wishes change and evolve
• If there are changes to the law that change how effective your will is

Bereavement Support

Bereavement Concierge

Losing someone you love is tough enough, without the endless admin, logistics, and decisions that follow.
From paperwork and phone calls to funeral planning and everyday tasks, it’s overwhelming to face alone and easy to feel lost.
That’s why we created our Bereavement Concierge.
We can be the first call for your family at their toughest time, giving the people you love a compassionate personal assistant for them to turn to for guidance, answers, and hands-on help.

We can help with questions like:

  • How do I register the death? Where do I go and when?
  • Can someone help organise the funeral order of service? Where can I buy funeral flowers?
  • Can I get help doing the food shop this week, as I just don’t have time?
  • Can you help me update the insurance for the house?
  • How much should a funeral cost? Can you help me find a company to use?
  • When and how should I notify the banks and government departments? And can I get help with this?
  • Who can help get rid of medication that’s no longer needed?
  • How do I get a death certificate? How many copies will I need?

Our expert team will answer any questions the people you love have, link them up to support and step in to help with practical tasks, so they can focus on what matters.
We’ll help guide them through the process, from the moment after a death, right through until they’re working out if they need probate - and if they need help with this we can provide a seamless transition to our expert probate team at Octopus Legal.

Support for executors

Being an executor is an important role, but it’s one that comes with a lot of work and significant responsibility and at an already overwhelming time.

We’re here to provide support. Whether that’s for you, acting as an executor for a friend or family member, and to make life easier for the executors you’ve chosen.

We will:

  • Make it easy for them to find your will: We will provide your executors with a storage certificate so they know where your will is stored and it’s easy to access.
  • Offer a Probate Consultation
We’ll speak with them to understand the estate, help them understand if probate is needed and explain what this process involves.
  • Provide them with a tailored probate plan: This plan will lay out what they need to do, based on the information they’ve shared, and guide them through the steps they need to follow to obtain probate if they want to act themselves. This will be tailored to provide information on topics like inheritance tax and trust registration, if needed, depending on the estate.
  • Offer a Application Support Call: Once they’ve gathered all of the information needed to submit their probate application, our team is available for a call to talk through final questions before submitting the application.
  • Our supportive experts are always on hand:
If they ever want or need professional support our industry-leading probate team is there to step in - offering transparent, fixed fee prices, quoted upfront. We offer both Grant Only and Full Administration services so we can provide the level of support they need.

Premier Package Members also have access to a 20% discount on our Probate service.
Our compassionate experts can take on the administrative and legal work of probate from valuing the estate, applying for the grant of probate, right through to completing the process.

This will:
Save them time: 35 hrs on average, at an already busy and overwhelming time.
Save them money: On average, customers are likely to save at least £1,000 on our full administration service, helping maximise what you leave behind.
Save them stress: Whilst our team of experts takes on the work, they’ll be able to focus on what matters.

Our probate service is:

  • Fixed fee.
  • Based on the amount of work. Not the value of your estate.
  • Transparent and quoted upfront. No hourly rates.
